Ballymena Fit N Running club athlete Mark McKinstry brought the curtain down on a fantastic season for him last week.

The Glenwherry man recorded victory in the Round The Bridges 10 mile road race at Limavady on Thursday evening.

Six days earlier he was crowned National Half marathon champion so went into the event with confidence.

In typical fashion he took up a front running role from the off and looked superb as he swept to victory in 53mins 5 secs.

Pauline Thom was having a storming run for the first 7 miles when she experienced stomach problems.

However, she kept her composure for the last 3 miles of the race and finished 2nd female in 65mims 11 secs.

Vernon Shiels recorded 62mins 11secs with his namesake Conor finishing in 63mins 54secs to claim 22nd and 28th positions respectively.
