After the opening front nine Owen Smith (4) was one point ahead of Robert Barkley (22) with Colin Black (19) another point behind.

Michael Alexander was a further point back followed by James Mairs (11) and Paul Houston (5) another two points down. After a ‘ding’ at the Fort, Barkley came back with three pars and was level with Smith through the Maple.
