Randalstown Hockey Club First XI returned from Armagh on Saturday with an 8-2 win in their first round match n the inaugural President’s Cup.

Town dominated possession from the start and scored a couple of early goals to dent Armagh’s confidence. Randalstown went in 4-1 up at half-time.

The second half was rather similar to the first with the same score line of goals. All of Randalstown front line got onto the score sheet with most getting a brace of goals.

Coach Harry McNeill still had a few pointers to take from the game and was disappointed by the lapses in concentration that let Armagh get something from the game.

Thanks to the supporters who braved the cold and to the continued support from Randalstown 1st XI sponsor Redz, Junction One.

SECONDS

Randalstown II 2, Dromore II 1: Randalstown didn’t break the deadlock until Joanne McClurkin intercepted a Dromore pass and found Ruth Gleghorne in support. The final quarter of the game saw Randalstown regain control and the lead when Charlotte scored the winner.
