Randalstown Seconds hosted Carrickfergus 1sts in the Qualifying Plate on Saturday and reached the semi-finals after an exciting 5-3 victory.
A bright start saw the home side control proceedings and took the lead when Grace Clarke scored her first goal of the season from a penalty corner strike.
However, Carrickfergus replied before the interval with a deflection.
From the start of the second half Kerry Coulter, Megan Quinn and Nicole Moore combined well for the latter to rattle home to put Randalstown back in the lead. Soon after Carrickfergus replied in kind to make the score 2-2.
With twenty minutes remaining Sasha Lawther made a bursting run before unselfishly passing to Jayne McGrillen to score.
Carrickfergus dug deep and again levelled matters at 3-3 from a solo effort.
The game looked to be heading to extra time when Randalstown grabbed the game by the scruff with captain Fiona Lee robbing a Carrickfergus player of possession in the middle of the park before finding Alice Reid free in the circle.
She coolly rounded the goalkeeper and found the backboard to give Randalstown the lead for the fourth time.
Determined not to concede again Randalstown patiently keep possession resulting in Alice Christie slotting home for goal number five to put the game beyond doubt.
Randalstown U11 training ended on Friday night for the season and the coaches organized a Fun session for all the players.
They also received Easter eggs at the end. Thanks to Alex Oligby and Erin Getty for all their coaching this term supported by all their helpers. And to June McGrillen for her organization.
Randalstown player Zoe Wilson travelled to England last week with the Senior Irish team for a 3-match training series against Great Britain. Ireland now travel to New Zealand to play in the Hawkes Bay Cup.
