Rugby club gears up for cycling fund-raiser

Ballymena Rugby Club, in conjunction with Velo Culture (Ballymena), will be holding a Charity cycle on Sunday 19th April.

Registration on the day is from 9.45am-10.15am and there will be a choice of three routes, listed below.

There will be a Water Stop in Glenarm at the car park where you can top up on water, bananas or gels before heading off on the rest of the charity cycle.

It will be £20 to enter and there will be a free barbecue for anyone who takes part at 1pm at Eaton Park. If you pre-register before the 10th April you will also get a free event T-shirt

Velo Culture will be at Eaton Park with some of the latest bikes from Cube, Merida and Scott. There is £100 up for grabs for the best supported cycling club donated by SH Coleman Ltd. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes from Fitness Factor, Michelin and many more

You can pre-register at Ballymena RFC (Cormac) or at Velo Culture, Greenvale Street, Ballymena.

All profist from the event will go to Cancer Research UK.

CLUB ROUTE; The group will set off at 10.30am, heading towards Broughshane, in Broughshane the group will turn right on to Church entry the left onto the Buckna Road, the group will follow the Buckna Road until they reach the Kilnacolpagh Road where they will turn right. Follow the Kilnacolpagh Road to the end and turn left onto the Carnalbanagh Road then right onto the Lisles Hill Road. Follow the Road onto the Munie Road and enjoy the run down into Glenarm, then turn left and follow the coast road through Carnlough and onto Waterfoot. Turn left onto the Glenariffe Road and start the six mile climb up to Cargan. Continue on the Glenravel Road through Martinstown and onto Ballymena. At the end of the Frys Road turn left onto the Raceview Road and finish your cycle back at Eaton Park.

FUN ROUTE; The group will set of at 10.45am and will follow the same route as above, until they get to Carnlough. In Carnlough turn left onto the Ballymena Road and start the 4 mile climb to the to the top as you continue onto the Carnlough Road to Broughshane. Go straight through Broughshane onto the Raceview Road and finish back at Eaton Park.

FAMILY ROUTE; The group will set of at 11.00am. They will turn left out of Eaton Park on to the Raceview Road towards Broughshane, in Broughshane the group will turn right on to Church entry the left onto the Buckna Road, the group will follow the Buckna Road until they reach the sheddings. At the road end turn left onto the Carnlough Road and head back to Broughshane. Go straight through Broughshane onto the Raceview Road and finish back at Eaton Park.
