Horse racing made a successful return to the Ballymena area for the first time in more than a decade over the weekend.

The Mid-Antrim point-to-point took place on land owned by the McBurney family at Caherty Road, after a number of years in Moneyglass.

The eagerly-awaited event didn’t disappoint, producing memories of meetings of yesteryear at Galgorm and Ballymarlow.

Event officials were hoping for good weather for their return to Ballymena and they certainly weren’t disappointed as the sunny conditions brought out the crowds in huge numbers.

Clerk of the course David Crawford and his team of officials were delighted with the success of the event, which will hopefully now become a regular fixture on the point-to-point calendar in the years ahead.
