This weekend sees the second round, of five planned, in what has become known as the Aghadowey Ice championship.

I missed the first round a couple of weekends ago due to not knowing it was on, but thankfully, thanks to the powers of Facebook I can tell you that the second round is this Saturday.

It might sound a bit like ice speedway, but it’s not.

Minibikes are great craic, and as often as not, its where some of our best short circuit riders start off.

I know that a few short circuit riders turned out at the last one, including Glenn Irwin, who steps up to the BSB series in 2016.

Racing is due to get under way at on Saturday at 10am.

The final three rounds are 28th November, 16th January and the last one is the 30th January.

Admission is free on each occasion.

DROMARA DESTROYERS BIKE SHOW

Back due to popular demand, the Dromara Destroyers Tribute Group are to hold their annual motorcycle show this coming Friday and Saturday in the Lagan valley Leisure Centre, in Lisburn.

The special guest this Saturday will be James Whitham, former British champion and now TV commentator.

The event will feature a special tribute to our 4 world champions, and numerous British championship winners.

Doors open this Friday at 5pm, until 10pm, while on Saturday its 10am until 5pm.

The nominated charity this year is the Northern Ireland Childrens Hospice.

I’m hoping to be at the show on Friday, but won’t be able to make it on Saturday, as I’m planning a trip to Aghadowey.
