The annual Race Over the Glens promotion on New Year's Day is always popular with local runners.

THE annual New Year’s Day Race Over the Glens event takes place at Glenariff Forest Park today (Tuesday, 12 noon).

The race route will take the form of a one lap route of approximately 5.5 miles.

The terrain is a mixture of road, gravel and grassy paths. Normal running shoes should suffice, however ‘trail’ type shoes may be advisable/ beneficial in certain conditions. There will be mile markers at every mile and marshals along the route.

Registration is at Glenariff Forest Park Visitor Centre Changing. All competitors who have pre entered can pick up their race number at the pre-entry desk at registration on race day.

Entry £11 or £12 or £15/£16 on the day.

The race will start from the top car park in the Forest and finish in the main car park in the forest park.

This year’s event has also attracted added sponsorship from local sports retailer Style N Sport.

The Church Street firm will provide each runner with a race T-shhirt along with a voucher for use in the store.
