LAST week saw the first Ballymena RFC Girls Cross Community Rugby Blitz.

Girls from St. Patrick’s College and Cullybackey High School attended Eaton Park, where on a day of rare sunshine, they enjoyed several games of TAG Rugby.

One local school was unable to attend and the two schools therefore joined together to form a ‘Barbarians’ team who seemed to enjoy playing against there school mates.

The girls really enjoyed the experience as did organiser Tom Wiggins.

Tom, Ballymena RFC and Ballymena Council’s Community Development Officer said: “It was great to see the girls out enjoying themselves.

“BRFC are committed to allowing as many children as possible the opportunity to experience rugby.

“We are gradually introducing Girl’s TAG to schools in the area and we hope to extend this initiative and make the cross community rugby blitz an annual event,” added Tom.
