STEVEN Workman has successfully retained his Ballymena Road Club – Chain Reaction Cycles – Time Trial best all-rounder champions title for a third successive season.

Steven, who first joined the club in 2009, had another great season in the club’s Northstone sponsored series of club time trials and he will collect four items of silverware at the club prize presentation dinner, which is scheduled for Eaton Park on Friday 30th November.

The premier prize is of course the Sam McQuigg cup for the club’s senior time trial best all-rounder competition. This has three qualifying distances at 10 miles 25 miles and 50 miles.

Workman’s winning times were; 22 minutes 39 seconds for 10 miles, 52 minutes 49 seconds for 25 and 1 hour 51 minutes 12 seconds for 50 miles. This represents a winning overall average speed of 27.290 mph.

Runner up for the second season is Ryan Currie with 26.949 mph while Nigel Kernohan takes third with 24.695 mph.

(4) Adrian Kerr 24.408 (5) Bobby Currie 21.677 mph (6) John Maxwell 21.355 mph (7) Beresford Millar 19.826 mph.

Steven Workman also won the Stan Finlay memorial rose bowl for the 10 miles time trial at Woodgreen on 18th April, his time on that occasion was 22 minutes 39 seconds.

Steven’s next win came in the Grand Prix of the glens time trial on 20th June when his winning time of 1 hour 35 minutes 51 seconds earned him the Tommy Talbot cup. This year’s glens event was different to normal as it started in Broughshane, instead of from the Ecos roundabout. The riders also had to negotiate the Garron road, after Carnlough, because of the detour put in place following the land slide on the coast road.

Trophy four for Steven was the Ernie Mark cup 25 miles time trial at Woodgreen on 25th July when his winning time was a personal best 52 minutes 49 seconds.

Tickets.

Ticket sales for this year’s BRC prize presentation dinner have been exceptionally good, so much so there is a real possibility that the event may be over- subscribed as space is limited at the Eaton park venue to just over one hundred guests. Club members who have booked and paid for their tickets, which cost £17.50 each, will naturally be given first priority

Those who haven’t paid yet should do so by next Monday night 26th November, at the latest.
