Randalstown’s Houston Brothers are the best in Mid-Antrim from Clonmel

Weekend weather was again difficult and the proposed very early liberation was not possible, strings were eventually cut at 9.45am and 20,000 NIPA birds including Mid Antrim were released into a Westerly wind which was to be stronger at the home end.

Winners again made light of the 180 odd miles to home lofts and in this 5th race of the young bird season the vast majority were home in good time. Another great call by the liberation team. Best in Mid Antrim was Houston Bros of Randalstown who recorded velocity 1575 followed by the top two in Kells & Dist Brian Swann and Scott & Clements and then Mr & Mrs Sempey who had the best two birds in Ballymena.

The winning Blue w/f hen was bred by Surgenor Bros of Kells the best of their Busschaert & Braspenning family and the runner up was bred by Tom McAlonan. This Dark Pied hen was Lambrecht, the McAlonan loft has the very best from Danny Dixon.
