BALLYMENA Bowling Club’s junior men’s team continued to steamroller the opposition as they completed a memorable 2012 by winning the Team of the Year award.

As well as winning the Private Greens League Junior Division One title for a seventh successive year, the Old Ballymoney Road men capped a great season by winning the Irish Junior Cup for a fourth time, beating Letterkenny in the final.

Club stalwart Joe McKeown said: “I was very proud to be club President in 2012.

“To watch all the team put in tremendous performances right through the season makes me very proud of every one of them.”

Team member Ivan Lynn said: “The club made a conscious decision a number of years ago that we would bring a lot of youth into the club and it has stood us in good stead.”

Also short-listed: Mid-Antrim trials team (motorcycling); First Ahoghill Bowling Club (indoor bowls).
