THEATRE Tours International will be bringing Austen's Women, which was a hit at the Edinburgh Festival last year, to the Island Arts Centre on Saturday January 16.
Austen's Women brings some of the most rewarding and exciting moments from the complete works of Jane Austen, the queen of English Literature to t
he stage.

Co-written and performed by Rebecca Vaughan, Austen's Women sees thirteen of Austen's beautifully observed women assembled in one glorious distillation of 19th century feminism.

From scenes of high comedy to moments of profound pathos, Vaughan takes us on a rich journey into Austen's "two inches of ivory" featuring Lizzy Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, Anne Elliot, the Dashwood Sisters and many more, as they fall in and out of love, make friends with some, alienate others and commit notorious improprieties.

Rebecca trained at ALRA following a degree in English Literature at Cardiff University. Film and television work includes the lead in Fearnort's feature film Grace's Land, the receptionist in The Interview for the BBC, and an array of short films.

Recent theatre credits include The Picture of Dorian Gray (Bill Kenwright), Room 24 (Nuffield Theatre); Havisham (BAC); As associate artist with Lanternfish Theatre Company she played Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Mrs Hawkins in Treasure Island.

She studied physical theatre with Sachi Kimura (student of Philippe Gaulier) and continues her wider training at both The Actors Centre and City Lit in Improvisation, Clowning (including Street Clowning), and Puppetry.

Austen's Women is directed by Guy Masterson, who directorial credits include Morecombe, Follow Me, 12 Angry Men and Playing Burton, which was also staged at the Island Arts Centre.

Austen's Women, a must-see for all Jane Austen fans, is staged at the Island Arts Centre on Saturday January 16. Tickets, priced £10/8, are on sale now from the Island Arts Centre Box Office on 9250 9254.
