The Trust has been announced as the winner of the Patient and Client Council’s 2016 ‘Making a Difference’ award for exceptional involvement of victims and care-givers in the development of the Rowan Sexual Assault Referral Centre for Northern Ireland.

Speaking at the ‘Involving you, improving care: our involvement story’ Conference on June 22, Louise Skelly, Head of Operations (Patient and Client Council) said: “The Making a Difference award focusses on excellent service user involvement and service improvement”.

She said: “Our judging panel, made up of members of the Patient and Client Council membership scheme, was particularly impressed with how the Northern Trust has been tailoring their engagement techniques, to offer victims and care givers personalised platforms to share their views and experiences.

“The Rowan has been described as ‘a centre developed by victims, for victims’. The voices of victims and care givers have been crucial to the development of support services offered at the Rowan and it’s important that their efforts are recognised.

“I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part in this year’s ‘Making a Difference’ award, especially the victims, care-givers, and staff, involved in the Rowan,” Louise said.
