Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Dragon Boat Race, in partnership with ABF The Soldier’s Charity and Cancer Fund for Children, features a spectacular river race with teams competing in dragon boats to win the coveted title of Dragon Boat Champions.

There will be a range of family entertainment including Clementsmount mobile animal farm, World of Owls, Q Radio roadshow and free dragon themed arts and crafts activities for children. One of the highlights of the event will be a Chinese dance display at 2pm, which has received financial support from OFMDFM, through Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme.

The Dragon Boat Race is an adrenaline-fueled event and the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, shares his enthusiasm for the event by saying: “The Lough Shore Park will be a hive of activity on June 11 and we promise there will be something for everyone. The Council is delighted to be working with ABF The Soldier’s Charity and Cancer Fund for Children for the Dragon Boat Race and local support is vital for this event.”

The Dragon Boat Race is free of charge to the public. Limited disabled parking will be available at the Lough Shore Park and a free shuttle bus service will be running regularly from the overflow carpark at the Education Authority on the Lough Road opposite Antrim Forum.
