The bus advertising, which will complement the BID’s current marketing strategy for the town, means that local high street retailers and businesses will be able to reach a wider audience and encourage more visitors to come to Ballymena and experience all it has to offer.

Ballymena town centre is very much open for business with 14 new stores being opened in the last 12 months alone and, in addition to the town’s great selection of eateries, the extremely popular annual discount day.

Ballymena BID Manager, Alison Moore said: “We are delighted to have won this competition. Ballymena BID will use the free bus advertising to promote the town’s hugely successful and highly anticipated annual discount day which takes place on Thursday, November 3. By utilising bus advertising on routes throughout Coleraine to Larne, the town and local businesses will hopefully reap the benefits.”

Ballymena’s annual discount day is the single biggest one day event in the run up to Christmas and is the stepping stone to the next six weeks of marketing for Ballymena BID.

Alison added: “Local retailers, including the unique mix of high end independent retailers coupled with the two extremely popular and well known shopping centres, experienced an increase of 39% footfall on the actual day last year in comparison to the year before and we expect that this year’s event will be even bigger and better supported given the targeted promotion generated from the bus advertising.”

Ballymena BID was implemented in Ballymena Town Centre following a successful vote by Ballymena town centre businesses whereby the business-led initiative allows member businesses to directly control the projects implemented in their town.
