Local podiatrist Philip Kenny, of the Footclinic Broughshane, delivered an interesting presentation on foot health, tell-tale signs for early diagnosis of problems and appropriate footwear.

A WI spokeswoman said afterwards: “It appears sporty chic in good quality trainers is the footwear trend to follow for health feet and joints.

“Philip highlighted the serious problems that can arise if foot problems are not dealt with and his presentation contained a few ‘Look Away Now’ moments for those who were squeamish.”

There was a huge entry for the evening’s competition “Killer Heels - what not to wear!” which was won by Annie Davison.

Chairman for the evening was Vice-President Annie Davison, who said she was pleased to announce that the Institute’s Friendship Cup was awarded to Broughshane WI secretary, Marlene Adams.

Members are now looking forward to their annual outing in June which includes a tour of Mount Stewart and retail therapy in Newtownards.
