ALL three Carniny sides competing in the Northern Ireland Cup at their respective age groups progressed to the next round courtesy of victories over Shorts, Ballyclare Colts and Cregagh Swifts.
UNDER-10
Carniny 3, North Belfast 2: It was north Belfast who made all the early chances and they deservedly took the lead on 10 mins when their striker beat the Carniny defence for pace and coolly slotted the ball home.
Carniny re-shuffled at half time and early in the second half, McHenry was brought down just inside the box and from the resulting penalty Dawkins scored.
Carniny s second came from a free kick, won again through another foul on McHenry, up stepped Dawkins to send the ball into the box, but it was cleared straight back to Dawkins, and he unleashed a truly unstoppable left foot shot into the top corner of the Belfast goal.
Carniny were controlling the game now, and from a 51st min corner Dawkins took it short with Wyllie who returned the ball and Dawkins beat a defender inside the box to shot across the keeper and score his and Carniny's third goal before Belfast pulled a goal back in the 56th minute.
Carniny: Dobbin, Lennon, Marshall, McHenry, Neilly. Dawkins, Leetch, Reid, McDonnell, Lemon, Wylie, Stewart, Apsley, Shaw.
UNDER-11
Carniny 1, Castle Juniors 2: Carniny took the lead in the first minute when Cameron Neilly sprang the offside trap and produced a clinical finish.
Castle equalised half way through the half after a period of sustained pressure. James McClean then produced a breathtaking diving save for the Reds before at the other end Conor Doherty hit the woodwork twice in the space of thirty seconds.
On the stroke half time the Bangor boys took the lead with a deadly finish and despite a desperate attempt to salvage a draw in the second half, Carniny were left frustrated.
Carniny: McClean, McComb, Evans, McGall, Adams, McNeill, Stewart, Keenan, Savage, Neilly, Doherty, Anderson, McKee.
UNDER-12
Carniny 7, Shorts 1: Carniny opened the scoring when Shevlin got the ball wide on the left and after a great run, crossed inside the penalty box for Millar to score.
Carniny were now playing some good passing football and scored again when a long range shot from right back Stuart McCullough deceived the goalkeeper to make the score 2-0.
The second half had only 3 mins on the clock when Eamon Fyfe burst through the Shorts defence to score Carniny's third and 10 minutes later the game was safe for Carniny, with the best goal of the match scored as Stuart McCullough started the move with a ball from defence, played by Josh Feeney to Eamon Fyfe who then played the ball wide to Camryn Millar who in turn put a great cross into the penalty box where Matthew Shevlin scored with a diving header.
Matthew Shevlin made the score board next after a goalmouth scramble and after Shorts had scored he completed his hat trick.
