JUST when the local footballing fraternity thought the worst of the weather was over and they could get back to regular fixtures, another blanket of snow and ice wiped out most fixtures locally and beyond.
Only Carniny Youth under 15s NIBFA Cup game survived up at Eglinton whilst the rest of the club's eight teams' fixtures were called off with four of the teams having to travel even though it was obvious the games would not take place.

It now looks
as if the local administrators are going to have real problems in finding enough dates to fulfil all the fixtures.

UNDER-15

Carniny Youth 0, Don Bosco's 3: A depleted under-15 squad failed to carry on their recent good form when they went out of the NIBFA Cup last Saturday against Derry side, Don Boscos.

Don Boscos set the tone for the match when they came out the brightest taking the game to Carniny.

The boys in red couldn't seem to get into the game in the early stages but as the half progressed they settled down and looked like going into the lead when a Zach Barr shot only needed a tap in from the other forwards but they were guilty of not following in and the chance passed by.

The Derry boys were given too much time and space to play by Carniny and as a result took the lead just before half time when their right winger slipped past the Carniny defence and crossed in for a Boscos forward to slam home.

At the start of the second half it looked like Carniny had stepped up a gear when Zach Barr fired in a shot just past the upright. However the Derry boys went on to play some neat passing football and got their second.

Lee Apsley had a half chance as he shot wide near the end but Carniny just couldn't seem to settle into their normal game and conceded a third in the dying minutes.

An under par performance by the Reds, taking nothing away from Boscos who wanted and deserved the victory more.

Carniny: Dunlop, McAllister, Todd, Greene C, Black, Hood, Greene G, Carson, Apsley, Barr, Taylor, Wright.
