Youth Football Winter League
In the next episode of the Ballymena North Centre Youth Winter League, Northend United Youth played hosts to a number of teams on Saturday 16th January at the centre from 9.30am to 2.30pm.

The U10s played hosts to Kells and Connor Youth Academy U1
0s. A very competitive match was to follow with both sets of young players giving a very spirited performance.

Next up on the agenda was Northend United U13s and Ballymena Youth Academy U13s in a seven a side match. Coaches Glen Speirs and Chris Wareing experimented with their team’s tactical formations, giving both teams much needed practice before their respective leagues recommence next week

Northend United U12s and Waveney U12s contested the third match in the series. In a much improved performance from last week, John Devlin’s team played some attractive and committed football but were found lacking in front of goal on occasions.

To cap a fine morning, Northend U14s completed a rigorous work out in the North Centre, in preparation for their NIBFA Cup match next week against Glentoran.

In parallel with these games, Northend United U11s and Ballymena Youth Academy U11s played each other in a full sided practice match at the Showgrounds on Saturday morning. Northend United coach, Mark Herbison, took the opportunity to give his large squad a good run out.

Weather Rules Out All Northend United Youth Fixtures

All Northend United Youth’s competitive fixtures were ruled out at the weekend, due to the weather conditions.

However the teams are planned to get back to competitive action on Saturday 23rd January if weather permits, with two of the teams playing in the NIBFA Cup. The U11s travel to play Limavady United Youths and the Northend U14s entertain Glentoran at Ballymena Showgrounds, in the same competition.

The Season So Far

With a strong panel of players in the U10s and U11s football teams, coaches Sean O’Brien and Mark Herbison are looking forward to the second half of the football season. Their new signings will add a competitive edge to the teams, making them teams to be reckoned with.

In the U12s, U13s and U14s, the Northend United team coaches are busy trying to get the last of their players registered, before the signing deadline approaches at the end of January.
