WAVENEY Youth earned a 2-2 draw in a dramatic finale to Saturday's game against Ballyclare Colts.
Smart passing into wide areas of a big pitch by Casey Mills allowed Ryan Corrigan and Kyle Jackson to torment the Ballyclare full backs.

Excellent marking by Matthew Henry and Aaron Weir frustrated the Ballyclare forwards when they broke forward and Waveney were well on top as the half ended scoreless.

The opening goal went Waveney’s way early in the second half when an excellent through ball in behind the Ballyclare defence by Nico Dunlop allowed Ryan Corrigan to coolly slot home from 12 yards.

This seemed to spur the Ballyclare team into gear and from some distance out, the Ballyclare striker had time to prepare a shot that sailed high into the net to level the game.

Within a very short time Waveney suffered another shock when Ballyclare took the lead with just six minutes left.

But as on so many occasions this season so far Waveney never know when to give up. Michael Balmer, coming back from injury, was introduced for the last five minutes and with just minutes left he slotted a through ball for Kyle Jackson to chase and shoot home below the out-rushing goalkeeper for the equaliser.

Waveney now face the trip this Saturday to Newry for the re-arranged NIBFA Cup match which was postponed last week against Creggan Rovers.

Waveney: K Brown, N Dunlop, J Stewart, J Logan, M Henry, A Weir, C Mills, M Balmer, Ryan Stewart, K Jackson, R Corrigan, J Hanlon, C Gaston, J Frew, C Stock.
