Antiques shop is set to close doors

After more than 40 years in business, a well-known antiques shop just outside the village of Ahoghill will close its doors after a final auction this month.

‘Once Upon A Time Antiques’ was established in 1972 by Fionnuala and Sean McLaughlin and in more recent times has been managed by their son, Ronan.

The shop, which has featured on TV shows such as Antiques Road Trip, will be the venue for a general sale on October 12 at 11am. For Ronan, the closure of the shop, does not mean a complete severance from the ‘trade’ and he will continue to deal online via his motoronan site. But he will now spend the majority of his time as the new manager of the refurnished ‘New Harp Bar’ in Hill Street, Belfast.

“It’s an old style Belfast Bar so I won’t be completely out of place!” laughs Ronan.

Once Upon A Time Antiques is located at 2, Parkfield Road, Ahoghill.
