Ballymena ‘Inner Wheel’ ladies have, as part of their international fund raising efforts over the past 12 months, supported two main charities - Water Aid and School in a Bag - and detail of their work was on display at the meeting.

Members’ £200 donation to Water Aid has been doubled due to a Government scheme taking the the total benefit to the charity to £400. “With a child dying every 15 seconds in Africa due to lack of access to clean water we aim to make a difference no matter how small,” a Ballymena Inner Wheel spokesperson said.

Members also supported ‘School in a Bag’ which delivers rucksacks full of stationery and resources to poor, orphaned, vulnerable and disaster affected children. It provides children with an opportunity to learn and be taught and provides hope to poverty stricken children.

‘School in a Bag’ has already distributed over 50,000 bags to children in 23 countries. The cost of providing and shipping a bag amounts to £15 and Ballymena Inner Wheel will send 18 bags. INBT 11-106JC
