Bee Safe is an interactive learning experience, which uses role play and real life scenarios to inform young people how to stay safe and make the right decisions.

Scenarios include internet safety, drug and alcohol awareness, fire safety, inclusion and diversity, home safety, personal safety and safety on public transport.

Speaking about the event Chairperson of Antrim and Newtownabbey Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), Councillor Linda Clarke said: “This is an excellent event that aims to develop awareness on a range of important issues as young people prepare for the transition from Primary to Secondary education. I hope that all of the young people who attended the event take on board the important messages to help keep themselves, their friends and their family safe.”

Antrim and Newtownabbey Bee Safe is a multi-agency approach to safety and the 2016 event was organised by Antrim and Newtownabbey PCSP. Presentations at the event were delivered by Antrim and Newtownabbey Home Accident Prevention Group, Translink, PSNI Road Safety and Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Antrim Youth Information & Counselling Centre, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, Women’s Aid and Beyond Skin.

Antrim and Newtownabbey PCSP has thanked all of the partners and organisations who provided support for the event and all the schools and pupils who participated.
