Ballymena People’s Park will be hosting one of the days this Saturday, May 21, from 1-4pm.

Councillor Billy Ashe, Mid and East Antrim Borough Mayor is encouraging families to get outdoors and learn more about local biodiversity at the same time.

Cllr Billy Ashe said: “Spring and early summer are great times to learn more about the natural world. Flowers begin to bloom, insects and frogs have emerged from winter hibernation and our local birds are out and about as they defend their territories and sing to attract a mate.

“Our Biodiversity Fun Days are a great way for families to learn more about the natural world through fun and practical activities. With a range of experts on site you can learn about birds, bugs and more.

“We are committed to protecting and promoting the biodiversity in the Borough and one of the best ways to generate support and understanding of the natural world is to get people to experience the wonders of their local area first-hand. We have some fantastic open spaces in the Borough, and a wide range of wildlife, so I would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy these free family events.”
