If you are out shopping for presents for loved ones, why not pick up something extra, such as a toy or a gift to help make a child happy this Christmas.

The Co-operative staff are getting into the Christmas spirit with plans to distribute the items they collect to the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul.

Toys and gifts suitable for children and teenagers of all ages can be donated at the Co-operative travel branch in the Fairhill Centre.

Speaking to the Times, a member of staff at the branch said: “We are asking customers and members of the local community to help us celebrate Christmas by bringing cheer to the deserving local child, who may be sick or less fortunate than other children.”

Staff at the Co-op are asking for unwrapped gifts so they can be checked for suitability and age range.
