Cullybackey WI hold first meeting of 2015

President of Cullybackey WI Eileen Wylie welcomed one of their own members as guest speaker at the first meeting of 2015 on New Year’s night.

Rosemary Kennedy, a talented photographer, gave a talk accompanied by slides of last year’s Slemish Area trip to Durham as well as a slideshow of Cullybackey WI events and competition entries in 2014.

During the Slemish Area trip, members went to Spennymoor for afternoon tea as the guests of the local WI.

They also visited Alnwick Castle the spectacular home of the Duke of Northumberland where the Christmas special of Downtown Abbey was filmed and Rosemary showed many views of the gardens and water features developed by the Duchess.

She also showed photos of some of the exhibits at the City of Belfast Flower Show where Cullybackey WI was awarded first prize for a Battenberg cake baked by Rosemary.

The January birthday girls were Ann Jamison and Florrie McMaster
