Galgorm Resort & Spa raising funds for Autism NI

The globally renowned luxury hotel and spa has announced local charity Autism NI as one of its chosen partners for its ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2016/17.

The year-long partnership will provide Autism NI with the valuable opportunity to take advantage of Galgorm Resort & Spa’s high footfall of guests, by supporting fundraising initiatives throughout2016/17 and providing an important platform to raise awareness of this ‘hidden’ disability.

Galgorm Resort & Spa have already planned a full calendar of exciting events for their staff, guests and local people, which kicked off with a very successful staff summer barbecue last Tuesday evening.

The fundraising will continue with a special movie screening of the popular Disney Pixar film ‘Inside Out’ in November.

Speaking following the launch of Galgorm Resort & Spa’s new charity partnership for the year ahead, Hotel Duty Manager, Tim Burden, said: “As an organisation that champions diversity, Galgorm Resort & Spa are delighted to partner with Autism NI and support its important charitable work with families and people of all ages on the Autism Spectrum.

“We have a number of special events planned for the coming year. The BBQ was a great start, and we’re looking forward to the Autism friendly film screening,” said Tim.

Autism NI Corporate Fundraising Manager, Sarah-Jayne Cassells, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Autism NI has been chosen by Galgorm Resort & Spa as their Charity of the Year for 2016/17.

“Galgorm is a wonderful location for us to raise awareness to a wide and varied range of people from the local community and further afield.

“The partnership will make a real difference to the lives of children and adults in Northern Ireland who are affected by Autism,” said Sarah-Jayne.

She added: “All money raised throughout this year-long partnership will remain within Northern Ireland and go towards providing life-changing services for the 30,000 people affected by Autism here.”

The charity also points out that with over 30,000 people in Northern Ireland affected by Autism and over 1000 children being diagnosed every year, Autism has become the highest growing disability in Europe.

Therefore fundraising support through partnerships gives Autism NI the essential support to allow it to continue to provide vital services to those families and individuals living with Autism in Northern Ireland.
