Gracehill& Galgorm WI April meeting

At Gracehill & Galgorm WI's April meeting, Audrey Steede presented the Ann Sambrook Award to this year's winner, Mary Simpson.

Jean Cunningham was runner-up and Annabel Woodcock was third. Sally Armstrong was congratulated on winning the Seapark Salver for her stitch work at the AGM in Belfast.

Competition entries for the Slemish Area AGM in Cullybackey were also judged. The winners will represent the institute with German iced buns, a knitted hat, photography and a floral arrangement.

Elizabeth Bell told the ladies about Ballymena Show entry details and said how contributions for the WI tent could be delivered.

Elizabeth Pritchard gave an update about ACWW and reminded the ladies that the annual sponsored walk will take place on Thursday, May 19, starting from Wellington Church car park on the Sourhill at 10.30 a.m. Reports about visits to other institutes were given by Margaret McGall and Barbara Totten.

A spring themed floral arrangement created by Trisha Sherrey was presented to Audrey Steede by Lynda Brooks who thanked everyone for making the evening so enjoyable.

The next meeting will take place on Friday, May 27 at Galgorm Community Centre. There will be a cookery demonstration given by Rosemary Moore. The theme will be Summer Cooking and the competition will be ‘A Summer Recipe.’
