Lavender Hill Mob screening

THE next screening from Film @ The Braid will be held this Thursday, August 25 at 7pm in The Braid Arts Centre.

This month’s film celebrates Ealing Studios legacy, with Lavender Hill Mob in a brand new remastered HD version.

The Lavender Hill Mob was first screened in 1951 during the Festival Of Britain and remains one of the jewels in the Ealing Studios crown of classic British comedies.

The Mob are lead by Alec Guinness playing meek bank clerk Henry Holland who devises a plan to smuggle £1 million in gold bullion disguised as Eiffel Tower statues out of Britain to France. All goes according to plan with the assistance of Stanley Holloway, Sydney james and Alfie Bass until the Towers reach France and go on sale instead of storage. Mayhem ensues as they chase the bullion back to the Channel in an attempt to retrieve the goods before the Police catch up.

The film will be introduced by Paul Chapman and there will be an opportunity to win copies of the Lavender Hill Mob on Blu-ray and DVD after the screening.

Tickets priced just £4 are on sale now from The Braid Arts Centre or just pay at the door on the night.
