Maths made fun for College pupils
Maths was made fun recently for all Year Eight pupils at Cullybackey College.
A special day was set aside to enable pupils to experience the application of maths to solve problems and apply their knowledge and understanding to logic.
The pupils spent the day working in different groups to solve various mathematical problems such as using 2D shapes to make a football, using ICT to complete logic problems and solving a range of puzzles.
Pupils also got to experience a real life ‘Mathemagician’ in action exploring a range of mathematical illusions, and even met ‘Phyllis the Psychic Banana’ who was able to guess their secret number.
The afternoon consisted of mathematical problem solving relay races and a table quiz.
A spokesperson said: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the various activities, developing their communication and social skills by working in teams, but also to under-pin their mathematical knowledge.”
