The Misty Burn celebrates a very successful first year at Glenwherry

If you like tucking into great food in beautiful surroundings then The Misty Burn is a must.

Although opened just one year ago, this cafe and convenience store is attracting customers from a wide area with its fabulously fresh and tasty, locally produced fare.

Located in one of the borough’s most historic buildings, formerly The Battery Inn, The Misty Burn is full of old world rustic charm, making it the perfect place to go for breakfast, lunch, take-aways, daily specials, Sunday lunch, afternoon tea or to simply enjoy a coffee.

The Misty Burn serves only the best of fresh local produce from a wide range of local suppliers including fresh meat from Ferguson’s Cullybackey, bread and cakes from R.J. Kerr’s and ice cream from Mauds to name but a few. Last year Samantha Norgate and Tara Bruce turned the Inn into a fantastic new coffee shop/cafe and convenience store and the success of their venture means they haven’t looked back since.

Those familiar with the 287-year-old Battery Inn will be amazed at the transformation into a bright spacious coffee shop/cafe offering incredible views whilst you enjoy a tasty treat. Tara and Sam have kept some of the old rustic charm of the Battery, retaining the original fireplace and wooden beams, while giving the old place a new lease of life. It’s certainly a new era for the area and already the local community and new customers have come to love the warm welcome and quality produce available at The Misty Burn. You can enjoy a delicious breakfast, sandwiches, or a hearty meal from our daily specials, including our very own Misty Burn burger, freshly cooked chicken goujons, homemade desserts and much more in our bright and spacious coffee shop/cafe.

Future plans are for Friday and Saturday evening opening with the advantage of bring your own bottle.
