Under the guidance of artist Raymond Watson, the students were encouraged to design and produce their own Tibetan ‘prayer’ flags.

Made of cotton, Prayer Flags are flown like bunting and are decorated with imagery representing the hopes for the future of the people who fly them.

Traditional belief has it that as the flags fly in the wind, the messages of good will are blown across the land like seeds to be propagated amongst the people and environment. The belief of this project is that our young people can express themselves and their hopes with positive and vibrant colours and words, presenting their messages for the future in a very public way – to let their hopes be spoken on the breath of nature.

The flags will be on display in the Antrim Library from Tuesday, March 2 to Saturday, March 20. This exhibition is supported by Antrim Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme and part funded by the Community Relations Unit of the OFMDFM.

The exhibition will open on Tuesday night from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and will continue to March 20 as per library opening hours.
