This will be the sixteenth year that Radio Cracker has opened its Christmas shop in Ballymena town centre, after raising more than £15,000 last year.

The store will be located at 96 Church Street with festive-themed gifts available to buy in store until Christmas Eve. In addition, volunteers have come together throughout the year to make hand-crafted Christmas gifts that are also sold in the shop.

Recently, Radio Cracker was awarded with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. to recognise the 22 years of dedicated voluntary service and the estimated £1.4 million pounds that has been raised by the charity to date.

Specsavers store director, Adrian Murdoch, says: “We were only too delighted to be offered the opportunity to sponsor the Radio Cracker Christmas shop again. Gordon Dawson and the rest of the volunteer team work hard all year to raise as “Radio Cracker will be broadcasting on 107.6FM, which goes live on Wednesday, 27 November 2013. The radio station is then live until Christmas Eve. So don’t forget to tune in.”

Radio Cracker considers charity applications on an annual basis, choosing five or six to share the funds raised that year. The station’s funds come from sponsorship agreements with local businesses, advertising revenue, shop sales, and donations from the public.
