Special transport arrangements for Ballymena ‘Vital’ fans

TRANSLINK is providing special coach services for Ballymena music fans travelling to see performances from mega stars including Eminem and The Script in Ward Park, Bangor, August 23 – 24.

With around 70,000 fans expected at the two-day festival, Translink, North Down Borough Council and the PSNI are encouraging people to use coach travel to Bangor including special late night return services to bring people safely home.

Translink’s Communications Manager Lynda Shannon says using the special services will be a hassle-free way to get to and from the concert: “We want to offer fans a convenient, reliable and comfortable journey to and from Bangor with services travelling from across Northern Ireland and operating until the early hours. Ward Park is situated very close to Bangor Bus and Rail Centre, making public transport a sensible choice to avoid congestion and car-parking. Special festival coaches will run from Ballymena and are available to book online,” said Lynda.Councillor James McKerrow, Mayor of North Down Borough Council, commented: “We are grateful to Translink for their efforts to provide special train and coach services and I would urge concert goers to make use of these as much as possible.”

With tens of thousands of visitors expected in Bangor for the festival, local police Operations commander Supt. Ian McCoy spoke about his hopes for a safe and trouble free event: “While we will have additional officers on duty over the period, I would ask those who will be visiting the area and attending the concert to act responsibly, and to help us maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere”.

Translink has also teamed up with Tennent’s Vital and MCD to offer one lucky fan of The Script a pair of concert tickets plus free travel passes. Just click facebook.com/TranslinkNI for details.
