Spider-man swings his way into cinemas for reboot of classic comic book series

YOUR friendly neighbourhood Spider-man is back for a new adventure and this time he is in 3D.

With the Spider-man trilogy just 5 years old, news of a franchise reboot was met with a mixed response.

For this new Spider-man the studio went right back to the start and decided to investigate what happened to our hero’s parents, something that was never mentioned in Sam Raimi’s three films.

Now we have a new spidey, as Andrew Garfield dons the suit playing the part of the wall crawler, his love interest this time is Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.

The story of Peter Parker, an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy, and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The re-casting is a success as the two’s web of romance really steals the show, director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) is an expert at relationship scenes.

A supporting cast of Sally Field and Martin Sheen as Peter’s guardians is a stroke of genius, adding Hollywood experience to the line-up and drama to the well known tragic fate of Parker’s uncle.
