Fish & Chicken is ‘Chip Shop of the Year’

BALLYMENA’S ‘Fish & Chicken’ has been crowned ‘Chip Shop of the Year’, winning the coveted Henry Jones Award at the second annual NI Chip Shop Awards

Fish & Chicken beat off strong competition at the awards, which were held at the Tullyglass Hotel, Ballymena, from the 2010 winner, The Pitstop in Kilkeel.

Other renowned chip shops such as The Galley, Flash in the Pan and Millars were also nominated.

The Railway Fryer based at Old Mossley in Newtownabbey won The Golden Glen Award for Best Chip Shop in Co.Antrim, while Bishops in Belfast won The Middleton Food Products Award for the Best Chip Shop in Belfast. Waves in Randalstown won The Golden Glen Award for Best Sit In Restaurant, Kings Chippy in Belfast took The Kerry Foods Award for the Best Takeaway while Guccii Chip on Belfast’s Lisburn Road won The Duncrue Food Processors Award for the Best Front of Shop.

McDonald’s in Glengormley won the NI Good Food Guide Award for Best Drive Thru. Browns Traditional Fish and Chips were double award winners on the night taking away the awards for Best Small Chain of Shops and the new Karaoke Chip Shop Award.
