HMV re-opens Ballymena store

Ballymena’s retail offering has received a welcome boost with the news that the HMV store in the Fairhill Shopping Centre is to re-open.

HMV and Xtra-vision owners, Hilco Capital, say that the 4,000 square feet store will open its doors on Saturday, August 30.

Twelve new jobs will be created at the store, bringing the total number of people employed by HMV and Xtra-vision in Ireland to over 1,100.

The total number of HMV stores in Ireland now stands at nine. In addition, there are now 46 dual branded Xtra-vision and HMV stores trading around the country as well as an on-line store which is growing rapidly.

Larry Howard, CEO of Hilco Capital Ireland: “We’re looking forward to bringing HMV back to Ballymena. It’s been a busy 12 months for HMV here, since re-opening the first store in Dublin’s Henry Street almost one year ago, and we’ll be announcing further openings in the near future.”
