Jobs boost as Galgorm Group link up with Procter & Gamble

Ballymena’s Galgorm Group has announced that it has signed a deal with Procter & Gamble (P&G) to become the company’s sole distributor for Ireland (Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland) across its Professional products business.

This is the first time that P&G will have a wholesale distributor network across the country and it is expected that this decision will substantially increase the company’s reach into the Cash and Carry and professional end-user market.

As a result of securing this deal, Galgorm will recruit seven people over the coming six months and grow its turnover by STG£10m over the next three years.

Galgorm Group will now manage the P&G Professional range throughout the island of Ireland which includes laundry, housekeeping and hygiene products throughout the wholesale market sector. Galgorm will recruit a new sales force and leverage its existing relationships with wholesalers to actively market the Professional section of P&G’s product portfolio including brands like Ariel, Daz, Deepio, Bold, Fairy, Flash and Lenor.

The Managing Director of Galgorm Group, Stephen McKenna, spoke of his commitment to the new partnership when he said: “The signing of this contract marks the beginning of an exciting business opportunity, between a family owned indigenous business and one of the world’s largest companies. I am delighted that this will result in the creation of further jobs to add to the expanding core workforce”.

Commenting on the announcement, David Cotter, Country Manager for P&G, said that this was an exciting step for P&G in Ireland: “P&G has not had a proper distribution and sales network for professional end users in Ireland. Our partnership with Galgorm will allow us to directly support this important channel and for the first time we will be able to get proper data and feedback on the professional end users in Ireland. Galgorm’s new sales forces will also allow us to educate and promote the benefits of the P&G Professional range directly to Cash and Carrys and end users throughout Ireland. We’re excited about the potential of this partnership for both businesses and look forward to working with Galgorm in the years ahead.”

Based in Ballymena, Co Antrim, Galgorm Group was founded in 1968 by Nicholas McKenna.
