Barnardo’s is asking local people to spring clean their wardrobes to raise vital funds for less advantaged children.
With spring having officially started, the children’s charity is launching its annual campaign to encourage donations to its shops on on Church Street and Broughshane Street in Ballymena, and the Castle Mall in Antrim.
Barnardo’s supporter and popular actress Jo Joyner is supporting the charity’s appeal for clothing, footwear and accessories like jewellery, belts and handbags.
Jo is known for her roles in No Angels and EastEnders and more recently Ordinary Lies, Trying Again and Marley’s Ghosts.
She said: “I am really happy to be supporting Barnardo’s spring retail campaign this year.
“I enjoy a ‘spring clear out’ and regularly visit my local Barnardo’s store and donate belongings that I no longer use.
“Instead of throwing things away, we can give them to Barnardo’s to raise cash to help the most disadvantaged children in the UK. It really will make a difference and make you feel good too.”
Barnardo’s NI Director Lynda Wilson said: “Each year we are overwhelmed by the volume and quality of donations kind-hearted people bring to our shops.
“With their continued support we can ensure that the funds raised will help transform the lives of those children who desperately need our help and support.”
