Anderson welcomes progress on Special Needs Youth Club

TUV Ballymena councillor Donna Anderson has welcomed progress on a scheme to provide a youth club for special needs children.

Speaking after attending a committee meeting in Ballykeel Councillor Anderson said: “I am excited by this new venture which promises to help statemented children with special needs aged 4 to 16.”

Also attending the meeting were Gemma Rainey from the Northern Health Social Care Trust, Ballykeel Together Development Association representatives, Ballymena South Cluster co-ordinator Gillian Forrest, volunteers and local children.

Cllr. Anderson added: “A reminder flyer will go into the schools in the Ballymena South area in mid-September. This will hopefully give a start date to the parents and help the children form a weekly routine outside of school hours where they can develop social skills and still learn through play.

“Parental input is vital to this club and l would encourage parents to get involved as all ideas are being taken on board.”
