The entrepreneurial founder, James H. McKinney was a prominent, local businessman within the Ballymena area who established the well-known estate agency in 1916 in addition to a furniture store, a seed business, a shoe shop, as well as an insurance and stockbroking firm.

It is the estate agency which survives today and which has moved with the times, developing a social media presence and establishing a website.
