Camhanach launch new album

Camhanach will be launching their new album ‘The Lovers Tree’ in Gillies Bar, Galgorm Resort and Spa next week.

Camhanach (Scots for The Dawn), which was founded by multi-instrumentalist and singer song writer, Mark Carmichael, has had a change of direction by adding three local musicians to their lineup - piper Andy McGregor, percussionist Jonny Whyte and well known fiddle player Johnny Murphy.

Completing the group is Mark’s wife Ellie on keys and vocals. Mark grew up on the shores of Loch Lomond and has since moved to Ballygawley in Tyrone with his young family.

He met Andy through teaching the Highland Bagpipes in schools, both are piping tutors for the Ulster-Scots Agency and the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association NI Branch, and the idea of the new Camhanach began.

You will hear many of the original songs wrote by Mark which feature on the album and also some haunting airs and exhilarating jigs and reels.

The launch is scheduled for Thursday, September 4.
