Festivals of music, dance and food from around the world are taking place in Ballymena and Carrickfergus this month to ‘Celebrate Diversity’ in the borough.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Audrey Wales, MBE, has announced plans to host family events in both towns, entitled ‘Celebrate Diversity in Mid and East Antrim’.
The Ballymena event will be held in Ballymena North Centre on Saturday, March 11, from 7pm to 9pm.
Mayor Wales said: “Mid and East Antrim Borough Council wants everyone who lives, works, plays or goes to school in this Borough to feel welcome, safe, respected and celebrated; therefore, projects like these are significant and important to Council as we continue to ‘Work Together to Create a Better Future for All’.
“This is a great opportunity for everyone in the Borough and beyond to come along to sample culture at its best.
“We are lucky to have a range of workshops and interactive sessions for all ages to enjoy.
“This event is a learning experience for all and is proudly supported by the Council and The Executive Office’s District Council Good Relations Programme.
“These will be fantastic events and everyone is welcome. We hope you can all come along to these events and experience some of Northern Ireland’s most colourful and exciting culture,” said Mayor Wales.
The Ballymena festivities will feature food, music and cultural performers from around the world, including performances from locally based groups. There will also be face painting and art workshops.
