Galgorm’s Chef on Great British Menu

CHRIS Bell, head chef at Galgorm Resort & Spa, will hit our TV screens this coming week, taking part in BBC TWO’s popular series, Great British Menu.

Chris is competing in the Northern Irish regional heat which transmits Monday to Friday of next week at 7.30pm on BBC TWO.

This year’s challenge is to create a ground-breaking menu fit for Olympic heroes; celebrating the arrival of the London 2012 Olympics and demonstrating the extraordinary Olympian heights the talented chefs can reach.

Chris is one of twenty four of the country’s finest chefs competing for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a world-beating four course menu at a prestigious event at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. British Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave will host the gala event with a glittering guest list of British sporting greats.

Chris will be up against Deanes at Queens head chef Chris Fearon and Niall McKenna from James Street South. The chefs battled it out in the Northern Irish heats of the competition, which was screened on Monday night.

For Chris to make it to the national finals, he must get past Richard Corrigan (chef veteran judge) and then face the Great British Menu judging panel, Oliver Peyton, Prue Leith and Matthew Fort in the regional final.

Chris’s Menu for the competition is: Warm salad of rabbit, rhubarb, Gracehill black pudding, tea & biscuits; Turbot poached in red wine, bourguignon of snails, olive oil potatoes; Roast Lissarra duck, Bakewell garnish; Jasmine, apricots & pistachios.
