Hard chargin at the BT Blues Club

THE INFAMOUS BT Blues Club is pleased to announce the return of blues power trio the Hard Chargers on Saturday 5 May 2012.

The regular band Stonehouse have been busy giging over the past month and have secured a few new dates to include the Alexander Arms as paert of the Limavady Jazz and Blues Festival in June followed by the Black Horse in Cokstonw on Sunday, June 10 - this is a new blues club and the Stonehouse guys are helping to firmly place it on the Blues map in northern Ireland.

The guys will therefore take a break in May and hand over the stage to Chris Todd and his band.

The Hardchargers are a power blues/rock/roots trio featuring foot to the floor guitar, rock solid basslines and tight flamboyant drumming.

They have played the Blues Club a number of times and always went downa storm. Last time they appeared at the club was during the annual Blues Jam and fans demanded a return for more of the same. Unlike our normal run of the mill blues band, The Hardchargers are also equally capable of delivering a unique acoustic style of play - washboard included.

They consistently deliver energetic, tight original arrangements of songs by blues artists such as Howlin Wolf, Albert King, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson and Little Walter to twangy modern Roadhouse Rock tunes by Roy Buchanan, Lonnie Mack and Stevie Ray Vaughan with a good helping of Jimi Hendrix along the way.

The band recently released an EP of original material, to include an appearance by former Nine Below Zero, Yardbirds, The Strutts and current Mercy Lounge blues/rock harp master, Billy Boy Miskimmin. Reviews of this product include .’This six track EP is worth a fiver at a gig and may even prove to be a collectors item should the three committed gents take off with their retro Rock and rootsy Blues. ..’It is high octane and close in pitch to those very early jamming Fleetwood Mac records.” ...”The title track, ‘Crazy about you Marilyn’ and ‘Suicidal hosepipe blues’ are penned by the band and worthy comparators to the Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters covers ‘Howlin for my Darlin and ‘Cant’t be Satisfied’ The guys are now looking forward to returning to the Ballymena based BT Blues Club as they class it as “one of their favourite venues with an excellent, eager fan base”. So come along and judge for yourself!!

Paul and Gary who run the club are alo pleased to announce that they will be opening the BT Roots Club on Saturday, June 6. This is set bto run on the third Saturday of each month. Opening wil be the renowed Errol Walsh and his band ‘The Real Deal’. (ADD MORE ABOUT ERROL).
