“At our ‘Pop Up Play Days’ families can enjoy a wide range of fun, games and activities and it’s all completely free,” she said.

Council strive to provide extensive opportunities for play and creativity in the natural environment and hope to spread the message that play is an extremely important part of children’s lives. Play opportunities should be accessible for all children so our innovative ‘Pop Up Play Days’ programme is focusing primarily on our smaller, local parks and open spaces,” Cllr Wales said.

“Outdoor play is vital for any child’s physical and mental development and the health benefits of being in the open air are numerous. With current concerns around childhood obesity, unhealthy diets and lack of exercise, getting out to play is more important than ever. Of course, it’s great fun for children and adults alike,” she said, adding that ‘Pop Up Play Days’ will celebrate and promote the importance of play.
