Members of Muckamore WI have heard how locally produced gluten free food is helping good causes in Africa.
Guest speaker at their September meeting, Kerrie Smith from The Good Little Company revealed that over 50% of the profits from every pack of their gluten free ‘good little’ sausage products go directly to local African projects through three partner charities including Christian Aid and the Mulanje Mission,
Members were each given a packet of the company’s pork sausages to take home and try and member Margaret Bent proposed the Vote of Thanks to Kerrie who had been welcomed to the meeting by President, Elizabeth Gray.
Elizabeth congratulated Margaret Torrens on being awarded the MBE for Voluntary Services to the community in Antrim and thanked Margaret for all her loyalty and dedication to the W.I. over many years and the many other organisations that she has been involved with, remarking that “The MBE is a great honour and much deserved”.
Members Dorothy Coulter, Moira Martin and Maureen Mitchell celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversaries over the summer and were presented with Golden Anniversary Patio Roses.
The ‘Birthday Girls’ for July, August and September were Dorothy Coulter, Maisie Clyde and Hazel Coates and Mary Taylor won the monthly competition “An unusual teal towel”
