Portglenone author launches debut novel

PORTGLENONE writer Betty Hueston will be launching her debut novel ‘Once In A While’, a story set in rural Northern Ireland, in Portglenone Community Centre this Thursday, June 21, at 7.30pm.

Betty lives with her husband, Alex, on the outskirts of Portglenone, and is well known for her interest and affection for the area, having compiled two collections of stories and poems by and about the people who live, or have lived in the village and surrounding district, aptly named ‘Echoes of Portglenone’ followed by ‘More Echoes of Portglenone.

Other publications by the author include numerous stories, poems and articles published in newspapers, anthologies and magazines, plus two collections of her own work, ‘Down Memory Lane’ and ‘Memories are Made of This’ and also two compilations with another writer, ‘Country Tales’ and ‘Humble Happiness.’

Writing the lyrics for a song, ‘Please Cancel the Taxi’ recorded by the well-known country singer, Billy McFarland is another of the author’s successes. She is no stranger to the media either, having read her work on radio and given several interviews concerning her writing.

‘Once in a While’ is the author’s debut l, but a sequel is planned.
