The East Strand Portrush is set to play host to Coleraine Borough Council’s Air Waves Portrush air show on September 6 and 7.
The Northern Ireland International Airshow has moved locations to showcase a more prominent flight line to visitors along the eastern peninsula of the coast.
With the new scenic position and new programme, new opportunities are available to bring many more visitors to the show.
Air Waves Portrush will also have an exclusive hospitality provision with the Silver Wings Chalet and car parking, limited on both days to first come first served. Tickets and details can be sourced at airwavesportrush.co.uk
Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor George Duddy, said: “This year visitors can be assured of something for everyone, and for all ages as there will be so much more going on over the two day event.
“Fantastic air displays; a larger area and location to host stalls; car shows and entertainment with music; competitions; and giveaways.
“There will also be an armed forces village; a motor village; static helicopters; entertainment stages, live radio broadcasts and lots of model aircraft on show.
“We know visitors may be concerned over car parking, but a number of additional spaces will be available at locations throughout Portrush, which will include the Atlantic Hotel and Bar, Metropole and West Bay.
““Following the air display on Saturday, the fun continues with a spectacular fireworks display delivered by Nemisis Fireworks, as Barry’s of Portrush welcomes everyone to Ramore Head at 9.30pm.
“And of course on the Sunday, September 7, high profile aircraft confirmed to appear at ‘Air Waves Portrush’, will include the Red Arrows as well as two Lancasters, and the Canberra, which I will be particularly looking forward to.”
Support for this year’s Air Waves Portrush has come from the NITB as well as local businesses of the Borough.
